January 24, 2010The first word that popped into my brain upon meeting Mr. B was soulful. He just has that old world soulful look about him that made photographing him a special treat. The New Brand. (Bergen County Child Photographer)
January 18, 2010Part of my plan for December ‘09, and January ‘10 was to rebrand Z. Berkovic Photography. It took way more thought, time, and effort, than I originally thought it would. One of the biggest obstacles for rebranding was figuring out what my style and brand really was. What do I stand for? What defines my work? What will flow seamlessly with the images I have been creating, and what will give me room to continue experimenting with my photography style? After many a night of ideas and concepts running rampage in my imagination I finally hit upon an idea. There is nothing that would better define me and my brand than my signature. I scanned in my signature and had my designer create it into a logo. I love that I can now sign my art and incorporate it into my brand and I love that my designer didn’t give up on me as I am sure I was quite a force to be reckoned with. :oD
So introducing for the first time my dear clients, friends, and followers…(drum-roll.)
my new logo-
As you see my new look is classy, clean, and timeless, with a touch of whimsy, just as I see my work to be. The red on the left is my actual signature as you can see both the Z and the B of my name.
My old logo-
It is fun, modern, and has a retro geometric feel to it. It can be worked with, but as I grew in my photography it did not match what I grew into. I will miss it though as it will mark so many sentimental firsts I have had along the way.
Bear with me as I change everything over to match my new brand and look out for my brand new website coming soon.

New! (Rockland County Child Photography)
January 5, 2010New inspires me. There is something alluring to me about an empty journal, a fresh calendar, and a new pair of leather shoes. New things make my creative juices flow and it awes me that endless opportunities are at my disposal.
I feel incredibly grateful for so many things this past year has brought. Mostly for the wonderful friends I have made with every family I have photographed. I thank you all for allowing me to glance into your lives, relationships, and personalities.
I also am incredibly grateful for all the wonderful people I have met through this art of photography, both those that push me ahead, and those that inspire me with an endless thirst for knowledge and growth.

Snow! (NYC Child Photography)
December 22, 2009I have one image to share today. One that will remind us what it feels like to close our eyes and feel the wet sprinklings of snow fall on our closed eyelids; One that will remind us how it feels to inhale the chill of the air, and fill our lungs with the fresh sense of wonder.
On a different note, snow can be quite a majestic backdrop for your photography session. If you want to book a winter session consider booking it before January 1st to take advantage of 2009 pricing.

Winter. (Rockland County Child Photography)
December 7, 2009Winter for me is a challenge. Sunlight is what I work with, breathe actually, but before I have a chance to catch my breath, the last streaks of sunset are fading away. The extra hours of darkness are not all painful though. It gives me a chance to think about the bigger picture instead of just reading into the light. It gives me a chance to take a step back and redefine myself as a photographer.
This journey of photography has been a rare and intriguing gift of self discovery. It shocks me to see how my style has evolved from fun and spontaneous to planned and imagined. It makes me wonder again and again what it is I want to capture, and what defines an image as being mine. Especially being that I love the outdoors, shooting indoors again pushes me to challenge my vision of what I want to create and share.
I am incredibly thankful for the wonderful individuals that have taken a part of my journey and I look forward to seeing where this road will take me next.
